Итог:Given the need to increase the environmental quality and ecosystem services of the urban system, two key aspects are the vegetation cover and the social dimension around green areas, regardless of their size and population density. This study assessed the importance value of the tree composition and the social perception of the Juan H. Sánchez urban park, better known as Morales park in the city of San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The methodology consisted of tree strata analysis identifying the dominant species and surveys to know the perception regarding the uses of the park. The results showed that the park is composed of introduced species mainly, with the eucalyptus (Eucalyptus camaldunesis) dominant and secondly the ash (Fraxinus uhdei) as native tree. To integrate both dimensions, the recomposition of tree species and the improvement of spaces for social activities, an approach to environmental awareness and education based on citizen participation and proximity to green areas is proposed.
