Description
Summary:The article consists of the analysis of the use of graffiti and muralism as a graphic tool intended for the reconfiguration of the Melchor Ocampo neighborhood of Ciudad Juárez, which was affected by the violence that began in 2008 with President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa. Spatial reconfiguration was analyzed through the theory of space production by Henri Lefebvre (2013), who developed the trialectics of space to jointly address physical, mental and social space. This allows us to understand the people and processes that are part of the constructions of spaces. Therefore, two projects designed by Melo were investigated, Intervention of walls through graffiti in the Melchor Ocampo neighborhood and Urban Art in Melchor. In the initiatives, the residents of the area were linked with graffiti artists, muralists and artists so that they participated in the different artistic intervention activities and symbolically reconfigured the physical conditions of their environment.
