Summary:e Virgen de la Soledad is located in the temple of San Juan de Dios in the Southern municipality of Hidalgo del Parral in the state of Chihuahua. e project for its conservationrestoration arises from the community’s concern about the state of conservation that the image presented. e relevance of the process lies not only in its technical solidity but also in the historical and social value of the piece, characteristics that have guaranteed its permanence in the community of Parral. e Virgen de la Soledad is represented in an articulated frame sculpture from the end of the 17th century and is closely linked to the mining origins of the city, a fundamental part of its history and identity. roughout the following sections the importance of the link that a community establishes with its heritage will be revealed and how this relationship is closely linked to the task of conservation, making it a scientific discipline and in turn a social one.
