Summary:This article analyzes the concept of national culture which took the work of a person who lived in Monterrey in the 19th century. The questions that guide the arguments in the following pages is to find out what was made from the different regions to pay the national State building from the intellectual plane. So, we analyze the intellectual activities made by José Eleuterio González: personage of multiples facets who committed with the development of his community; he was part of various projects with local and national relevance; and was vinculated with some of the most prominent persons in that epoch. The research gives signs about how the work on diverse matters made from different regions of the Mexican republic contributed on the greatest cultural projects of national character.
