Gaia:Rickettsiosis is a disease caused by intracellular bacteria which is transmitted to humans through vectors such as ticks and lice. It is a life-threatening disease which a timely clinical diagnosis and pertinent empirical treatment can be the difference between life and death.Nowadays, this disease represents a significant health problem in Ciudad Juárez owing to its diagnosis often goes unnoticed. Here, it is presented a case of a 33-year-old female who comes two times to receive medical attention for uncertain symptoms, developing multiple organ failure and mixed shock status. After being admitted in the Intensive Treatment Unit (itu) and with the specific antibiotic therapy, the patient presents favorable clinical evolution and complete remission of organic failure. The training of health professionals is essential for a timely detection of vector-borne diseases.
